European Basketball Championship 2011 will be held in Lithuania this year. Travel agency SAITAS was founded in the year 1992. It was one of the first company’s in Lithuania which started represent Lithuania’s and foreign airlines and offer professionally organised trips. SAITAS business partners are only the leading companies in the travel industry.
In the year 1997 for the agency was granted IATA (Internation Air Transport Assosiacion) member status, which guarantees that products, service and qualification of our emploees meet the international requirements. We represent the major airlines, international ferries, hotels and car rental companies all over the world.
We have leader position in organising trips to sports events. This year 2007 was the eighth time we offered to basketball fans to follow our national team and watch the basketball competition.
The first time SAITAS organised sports event was the trip to Euroleague Final four competition in 1998. It took place in Germany and we brought there a group of 150 “Zalgiris” club fans. “Zalgiris” having a good supporting team won golden medals those year. Then in 2001 the national team was followed by 240 fans to Eurobasket competition in Turkey. And in 2003 in Sweden Eurobasket competition was again very successful to Lithuania’s national team and 980 fans came back to our country together with the team holding golden medals. After SAITAS was granted the official status of summer Olympic games organiser in 2002, our company carried about 500 sports fans to Greece. In 2005 more than 400 people were flying to Serbia and Montenegro to Eurobasket competition. Nevertheless this was not very successful year to our team but fans didn’t lose there energy and 150 people in 2006 supported national team in World Championship in Japan. In 2007 ULEB competition took place in Belgium and 500 fans of “Lietuvos rytas” club were together with the team when they played final match. And these days around 400 national team fans are still full of impressions brought from Spain, Madrid, Eurobasket 2007 and they are waiting for upcoming events in the year 2008.
SAITAS has department of incoming tourism, which provides services for various needs, from just a hotel booking for single travellers to a convention for hundreds of people, accommodation, ranging from budget to deluxe, transfers within cities and between them, car rental, guides, arrangements for special events, special interest tours.
